Bob and Suzanne Ellis have run The Wooden Duck Bed & Breakfast for us on several occasions this past year. Since they had owned their own B&B in the past, they were already experienced in the day-to-day operations of this type of business. When they came for the first time, they were able to ask the right questions, thereby enabling them to be better prepared for any problems that might occur during our absence. Their proactive management style enabled us to have a high level of confidence in them.
All B&Bs have their own perculiarities and systems, so we did need to show Bob and Suzanne how we would like our Inn to be operated. They were very responsive to our wishes and willing to follow our instructions.
After leaving the Inn in Bob and Suzanne's hands, we've always came back to a well-organized, clean facility. When we checked the journals in our guest rooms, we found that many of the people who had stayed at The Wooden Duck while Bob and Suzanne were in charge had taken the time to write nice notes in the books. They wrote that they had enjoyed their stay, and that they hoped to come again. Isn't that what running a successful bed & breakfast is all about?
As members of Select Registry, we have high standards for our Inn. Bob and Suzanne respect that, and we intend to continue to ask them to cover for us in the future.

Thank you so much for the wonderful way you looked after the B&B for us whilst we were away. The cats were fine and the house was looking fantastic on our return - I was, of course, delighted to have all the rooms and laundry ready for the next visitor so that I was able to get my act together before the guests arrived the following day. I noticed Suzanne even tidied a few cupboards for me (I realize they were probably driving you crazy) and I didn’t mind one bit, although I will not make a habit of leaving them like that! Our guests seemed to have had a great time from the comments in the guest book and have really enjoyed your company, good cuisine and hospitality. So, a very big thank you and we will certainly give you a call for another vacation time.
